Buckhout's suspension was announced in a settlement notice published on Monday, stating that she violated exchange rules by betting on her own election. She launched her campaign in December 2025 for North Carolina's 1st Congressional District against Democratic Rep. Don Davis. The penalty includes a three-year ban from Kalshi and a fine of $2,589.96, which is more than double her wager. Kalshi's compliance department noted that Buckhout cooperated with the inquiry.
